Molecular and cellular imaging is one of the fastest growing fields in biomedicine in recent years and one of the most successful fields in transformation of clinical application. Molecular and cellular imaging technologies utilize a variety of biochemical and cell biology techniques to form the images for whole tissues (brain, liver or various organoids, etc.), various types of cells, and various molecules (proteins, RNAs, etc.), and obtain and analyze biological information from these images. These technologies have been widely used in the research fields of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, metabolic diseases, and immune diseases, and are an integral and indispensable part of precision medicine research.
The Molecular and Cell Imaging Platform relies on the multi-disciplinary advantage of genetics, developmental biology and molecular biology of the School of Life Sciences of Fudan University, as well as the technical superiority of the State Key Laboratory of Genetic Engineering of Fudan University. Based on the sophisticated analysis and imaging instruments, our goal is to promote and develop the clinical transformation of precision medical technology and our facility is a fully functional cell analysis and imaging technology platform. We have the resource advantages of the Guangdong-Hong-Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to establish our platform in Greater Bay Area Institute of Precision Medicine (Guangzhou) as one of best the public technology platforms in this region and render us closely in touch with the frontiers of clinical imaging diagnosis. While providing support for scientific research in the institute, we also provide relevant services for the companies, enterprises, universities and research institutes around Nansha.
Our platform consists of two modules: biological imaging module and live cell analysis module. The biological imaging module is equipped with fluorescence microscope, laser confocal microscope and super-resolution laser confocal imaging system, covering the functions from basic image analysis to ultrastructural image development. The live cell analysis module is equipped with flow cytometer and sorter and multi-functional cell microplate imaging detector to help precision medical research, which can quickly and accurately perform multi-parameter quantitative analysis and sort a single cell based on its physical and chemical properties.
