Our research program focuses on the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of biologically active molecules and the development of peptide-based therapeutics. We are developing efficient methods for constructing chiral small molecules and natural products as potential drug leads, employing chemical biology approaches to unravel molecular mechanisms and identify valuable therapeutic tools. Additionally, the immense therapeutic potential of bioactive peptides has motivated us to develop innovative synthetic strategies for cyclic and constrained peptides, which may exhibit high affinity and selectivity towards target proteins and protein-protein interactions relevant to the treatment of human diseases.

Dr. Jin Cui obtained his Ph.D. from Osaka University in 2015 and worked as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow in Professor Masakatsu Shibasaki’s group at the Institute of Microbial Chemistry (BIKAKEN), Tokyo, where he became a tenured researcher and was promoted as a Senior Researcher. He joined the GBA-IPM in July 2023. His research interests are at the interface between chemistry and biology.

WE ARE HIRING!

Postdoc positions are open for motivated scientists who are enthusiastic about synthetic organic chemistry and chemical biology. The research topics include the development of new catalysis for the concise synthesis of natural products and pharmaceuticals, and the development of bioactive peptides. Experience in total synthesis, peptide chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and proteomics workflow is preferred. Experience with cancer biology, computer science, bioinformatics, pharmacy or related field is a plus, but not required. Candidates with multidisciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Upon completion of training, a postdoc certificate will be granted by Fudan University, China.
