Therefore, the importance of establishing a large-scale proteome measurement platform and professional institutions has attracted global attention. It will surely lead to a revolution in the field of biomedicine with the rapid development of proteome measurement technology and the wide application of the next-generation proteomics technology. Glycosylation is an important post-translational modification of proteins, which endows proteins with more abundant functions. It is not only an important part in the research of life mystery, precision medicine and biopharmaceutical quality control, but also a new research hotspot and breakthrough point in the world after the gradual maturity of genome and proteome research. Precision medicine that is based on proteome, glycosylation modification and other modified proteomes can transform the limited detection indicators and drug targets tracked in the process of clinical diagnosis and treatment into comprehensive access to the proteome and modified proteome information of each individual. Then, more accurate prevention, diagnosis and personalized treatment can be carried out according to the characteristics of the patient's proteome, glycosylation and other modified proteomic.
The Greater Bay Area Institute of Precision Medicine (Guangzhou) has established a high-level proteomics and glycomic public technology detection platform which based on on the profound technical foundation and platform management experience of the proteomics and glycomic research team of Fudan University. The platform will provide an important driving force for the development of precision medicine and related industry chains.
Based on the demand of precision medicine for proteomics and glycomics, the platform imports large-scale mass spectrometry systems such as Timstof pro2, rapiflex MALDI-TOF/TOF and Qtrap6500+, etc. It will carry out key technology development and application for proteomics and glycomics research, develop standardized technical method system related standards for high coverage, high throughtput and high sensitivity protein molecular phenotype measurement, establish a service support platform for laboratory research, precision medicine and health management R&D, as so to achieve standardization and scale development in related fields.
